We never turn someone away, and your support helps keep this movement sustainable. Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio

Meet Masami, NAICCO Executive Director, and Ty, NAICCO Project Director. A couple we respect a whole lot, and we're so glad that in 2011, they agreed to be the third set of hands to care for the Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio right here on the South Side.

We stand in solidarity with the Indigenous Peoples who have been stewards of this land and water from time immemorial. Much of the land that is present day Central Ohio was stolen in the 1795 Treaty of Greeneville and forced removal occurred through the Indian Removal Act of 1830, including that of the Delaware, Miami, Shawnee, and Wyandot Peoples.

We work to hold our community more accountable to the needs of Indigenous Peoples by cultivating our friendship and commitment to our neighbors at NAICCO and those who call the center home. NAICCO is devoted to preserving and restoring balance in the lives of Native youth and families living in and around Ohio through a focus on traditional, cultural, educational, family, community, and wellness driven values and initiatives.

We invite you to do your part. Support their ongoing efforts to purchase land by supporting the Land Back NAICCO Campaign. We encourage you to do so directly (naicco.com/donate) or via Community Grounds. Please put "NAICCO Love" in the comments if using a CG online donation platform.

As the only viable center in Ohio, NAICCO’s presence serves as a critical component in the lives of so many individuals and families. Be a part of their plans to expand their mission in big big ways by contributing  to strengthen NAICCO’s position to secure land of the highest quality possible in Ohio. Masami and Ty, thank you for doing what you do. We're thankful to be in Community with you.

Among the other historic tribes in Ohio were the Shawnee, the Chippewa, the Ojibwa, the Delaware, the Wyandot, the Eel River, the Kaskaskia, the Iroquois, the Miami, the Munsee, the Seneca-Cayuga, the Ottawa, the Piankashaw, the Sauk, the Potawatomi, the Seneca, and the Wea.

Feed & Read Ohio

Jacques Angelino, a former special needs educator and nurse, has worked to serve people by hand delivering food and books to those who cannot access it otherwise, for more than 20 years. He operates on simple principles: EVERY person deserves dignity, food to eat and the right to literacy. Donations for Feed & Read Ohio are accepted on the shelf just inside the entrance at Community Grounds, and can also be given to your barista. Urgent needs include shelf stable foods like beans/rice/peanut butter, infant/adult diapers, pet food, and books for children of all ages. You may also support directly at https://donorbox.org/feed-read-ohio-donations if you'd prefer!
